Kaizer Chiefs co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef have been heavily criticised since replacing their boss Nasreddine Nabi but they seem to be changing perception.
Kaizer Chiefs’ decision to hand Nasreddine Nabi’s assistants the job was not welcomed well by many fans and observers who felt the club should have gone for another top coach.
Chiefs opted to retain Burundian Cedric Kaze and Tunisian Khalil Ben Youssef as co-coaches until the end of the season, having been serving as assistants to Nabi, who left the South African giants in unclear circumstances.
The two tacticians got off to a poor start, winning just one of their first seven games, but they seem to be changing opinion about them slowly.

‘They Play Beautiful Football’ - CAF Boss Patrice Motsepe Makes Big Claim About Kaizer Chiefs
CAF president Patrice Motsepe has revealed his admiration for Kaizer Chiefs, claiming he watches them more than the club he owns, Mamelodi Sundowns.
This is because the Glamour Boys have now won three straight games in all competitions and done it in style. Chiefs beat AS Simba from DR Congo 3-1 to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup group stages, with all goals scored inside 28 minutes.
The Soweto giants then edged out Durban City 1-0 before their best game and result of the season on Tuesday, when they thrashed Orbit College 4-1.
Kaizer Chiefs Coaches Get Rare Praise
In the game, Chiefs turned on the style and should have won by five or six, had they not missed a host of chances, to the delight of fans and some of their ex-players who now think Kaze and Ben Youssef have started putting their stamp on the team.

South African giants Kaizer Chiefs opted to have Nasreddine Nabi’s assistant replace him instead of bringing in a new coach but what informed this decision?
“When you speak about the tempo, the intent you know, they wanted to go and attack that Orbit box and that was the difference,” former Chiefs left-back Tsepo Masilela said on SoccerBeat as quoted by South African outlet Afrik-Foot.
“First half they kept too many back passes playing with a low tempo but in the second half, they stepped it up and I am sure the coaches said a few words to the boys and maybe the coaches again are proving us wrong and I like that also from the coaches,” he added.
The recent revival has Chiefs fans dreaming of a possible title push after years of struggle with a 10th and ninth place finish in the last two seasons but they are now third on the league table with 22 points from 11 matches, three behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who have played a game more.

St Eloi Lupopo: Orlando Pirates’ CAF Champions League Conquerors Sanctioned
DR Congo side St Eloi Lupopo have landed in more trouble just days after their ill-tempered match that saw the South African giants file a case at CAF.
Chiefs are also in the Confederation Cup group stages, having returned to continental football for the first time since the 2020-21 season, and Kaze and Ben Youssef will hope to continue proving their critics wrong.
