Kenya Broadcasting Corporation has acquired exclusive rights to air all 52 matches of AFCON 2023.

Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) has officially secured the rights to broadcast the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023, set to take place in Ivory Coast.

The tournament, which has been rescheduled to 2024, promises to be a thrilling showcase of African football talent, featuring 24 national teams.

The announcement was made by Paul Macharia, the Acting Managing Director of KBC, during a press conference held at the corporation's headquarters.

"I am delighted on this important occasion of unveiling the agreement for the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, acquisition of the free-to-air rights for the Africa Cup of Nations 2023," said Macharia.

Under the agreement with rights holder New World TV, KBC will broadcast all 52 matches of the tournament on KBC Channel 1, Y254, various online platforms, and across its 14 radio stations.

"Our broadcast technical and editorial teams are up to the task, and we promise our audience nothing but the best," Macharia added.

This development is a significant milestone for KBC, aligning with its motto of being "the true sports partner."

It also demonstrates the corporation's commitment to delivering high-quality broadcasts of premier African football events.

The acquisition includes the rights to broadcast other regional events over the next two years, such as the CAF Champions League, CAF Confederation Cup, Women’s AFCON 2024, CAF Women’s Champions League 2024, CAF Beach Soccer Championships 2024, and the CHAN 2024, along with qualifiers for AFCON 2025.

"We will live up to our motto of delivering quality broadcasts of the best African football events," Macharia asserted.

He also thanked the Ministry for Youth Affairs, the Creative Economy, and Sports for their continued support, which has enabled KBC to broadcast not only AFCON 2023 but other key sporting events as well.

The 34th edition of Africa’s biggest football tournament will take place in six world-class stadiums spread across five host cities.

These include the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium, Alassane Ouattara Stadium, Yamoussoukro, Bouake, Korhogo, and San Pedro Stadiums.
