Zamalek players have expressed confidence ahead of the Confederation Cup final return leg against RS Berkane despite trailing on aggregate.

Zamalek is teetering on the brink of another disappointing outcome as they prepare to host RS Berkane in the Confederation Cup final return leg at Cairo Stadium on Sunday.

Despite suffering a 2-1 defeat in the first leg, the White Knights' defender Hossam Abdel-Meguid and attacking midfielder Ahmed Hamdi, have expressed their unwavering confidence.

However, concerns about missing key players and the pressure of the home crowd loom large.

“We're focused on following the technical staff's instructions and aim to win the title for the fans. Zamalek has a strong squad, and any player will give their all,” Abdel-Meguid stated as per Ahram.

Ahmed Hamdi, who joined the club in January, is eyeing his first trophy with Zamalek.

“The first half of the first leg wasn't our best, but we showed character in the second half. We're determined to win for the fans. We've studied the opponent and are focused on achieving victory,” Hamdi commented.

Midfielder Mohamed Roqa Ashraf also chimed in, emphasizing the significance of playing at home.

“We're 100 percent ready, and the home crowd will be our weapon. We'll press high throughout the game. With all due respect to RS Berkane, we won't let them win on our turf. The players understand the significance of this final match, and we'll give everything to win it,” he declared.

Zamalek's hopes of clinching the Confederation Cup title remain alive, largely thanks to a crucial second-half goal by Tunisian striker Seifeddine Jaziri in Morocco.

The goal has kept their aspirations intact yet the narrow deficit means there is no room for error in the return leg.

The White Knights have a historical edge having secured the African Confederation Cup title in 2019 by defeating RS Berkane in the final.

The highly anticipated second leg is scheduled to take place in Cairo on May 19.
