Super Falcons supporters were heavily critical of the Nigerian Football Federation for disrespecting the women's national team by failing to ensure better broadcasting and pitch conditions for Nigeria's crucial Olympic qualifier against Ethiopia

Fans of the Super Falcons have taken to social media to lament the lack of broadcast avenues to watch Nigeria’s crucial Olympic qualifier against Ethiopia, as well as the state of the pitch at the MKO Abiola Stadium.

Independent broadcaster rescues Super Falcons broadcasting dilemma

Nigeria took on Ethiopia’s Lucy girls in the second leg of their 2024 Olympic qualifier after claiming a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Addis Ababa.

Fans were able to watch the first leg in Addis Ababa with little stress and expected that they would be able to do the same for the second leg, but were shocked to find avenues to watch the match very limited.

A single independent link from a Facebook page appeared to be the only viable avenue to watch the Super Falcons’ crucial Olympic qualifier, with many complaining that the Nigerian Football Federation had failed the team by not ensuring better broadcasting conditions for the match.

Nigerian’s turn on NFF following shambolic showing

In addition to the poor coverage that the match received, many also decried the condition of the MKO Abiola stadium, stating that the pitch was not conducive for a football match of any kind, let alone a national team fixture.

Users on social media platform X, complained about the lack of coverage of the match, citing it as the latest show of disrespect to the Super Falcons, who have been plagued with several issues with the NFF.

Comments on the independent livestream also echoed these sentiments, as users declared shame on the NFF for the generally poor showing and lack of regard for Nigeria’s senior women’s team.
