Shabana put on a stellar show to thrash Sofapaka in Homa Bay as they ended a run of three games without a win while KCB silenced Kenya Police as Bandari added to Murang’a Seal’s woes.

Shabana FC recorded their third win of the season following a 4-1 thrashing of Sofapaka at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay on Saturday.

The Glamour Boys benefited from a quick start when Ezekiel Omuri scored from distance to give them a fifth-minute lead and after Vincent Nyabuto missed a great chance to make it 2-0, they made sure to celebrate a second goal before the break.

Brian Michira curled in a great strike to extend Tore Bobe’s lead in the 38th minute and held firm for a 2-0 advantage at halftime.

There was no respite for Sofapaka as Shabana made a mockery of their recent three-game unbeaten run with Omuri laying it on the plate for Wycliffe Mutua to make it 3-0 after 63 minutes.

Batoto ba Mungu summoned some energy and laid siege and Shabana’s defence and pulled one back but the hosts had the last laugh when Omuri grabbed his second assist of the game by setting up Nehemiah 'Neymar' Onchiri to score the fourth goal to give his side their biggest win since their top-flight promotion.

It was a well-deserved win for Shabana which ended a run of back-to-back defeats and leaves them 13th on the log with 14 points, same as their losing opponents, but with a superior goal difference.

Meanwhile, at the Police Sacco grounds, KCB returned to winning ways following a 2-1 win against Kenya Police.

KCB raced to a 2-0 lead with Apolo Otieno opening the scoring in the 26th minute before substitute Derrick Otanga extended the lead in the second half.

Otanga made the difference immediately after coming on as he swept home James Mazembe’s pass with his first touch of the ball in the 72nd minute.

However, Police pulled one back from the penalty spot three minutes from time but it was too little too late for Zdravko Logarusic’s men.

Victory moves KCB to within one point of leaders Gor Mahia, having played a match more, while Police remain in seventh place on 21 points, seven adrift of the table toppers.

In Mombasa, Bandari extended Murang’a Seal’s winless run to five games following a 2-0 victory at Mbaraki Complex.

William Wadri broke the deadlock for the Dockers before Umaru Kasumba made the points safe via a penalty to move John Baraza’s men to fifth place on the table with 26 points, just two behind leaders Gor Mahia who play on Sunday.
