Police escorted Shabana FC players after fans protest their third straight loss at Mbaraki Stadium, demanding better team performance.

Shabana fans' patience reached its breaking point following the team's third successive defeat on Sunday, culminating in a heated confrontation at Mbaraki Stadium.

The fans, who had witnessed a disheartening 2-1 defeat to Bandari FC, made their dissatisfaction known by surrounding the team bus, blocking its exit in a demand for answers and better performance.

Sammy Okoth's squad has found the current FKF Premier League season grueling, with the latest setback against Bandari FC marking their fifth loss in ten matches.

The Glamour Boys dismal performance has seen them languish at the bottom of the league table, accumulating a mere seven points so far.

Bandari's victory was sealed with goals from Ugandan Derrick Nsibambi and captain Andrew Juma, while Nehemiah Onchiri's effort for Shabana FC served only as a consolation.

The crescendo of fans' frustrations reached a peak at full time, as thousands of supporters who had traveled long distances by buses and trains from various regions to the coastal city, stood in solidarity, blocking the team bus from departing.

The players, under the scrutiny of the crowd, were whisked away into the changing rooms by a contingent of heavy security, a stark contrast to the calm demeanor they maintained amidst the uproar.

While some opposing fans offered consoling words, acknowledging the inherent nature of wins and losses in sports, the Shabana faithful struggled to accept the string of defeats.

"Accept results, defeat is part of the game," one opposing fan was overheard advising a distraught Shabana supporter.

Meanwhile, another Shabana fan was heard lamenting, "Shabana has lost many games, and now they are at the bottom of the table. It is painful."

In response to the turmoil, Shabana FC released a statement acknowledging their supporters' unwavering commitment.

"The best fans in the world, fans who are together with the team through thick and thin. Truly, our fans deserve special congratulations. Great things are coming to your team, Shabana; let's continue to be together," the club posted on social media pages.

Despite only securing one win, four draws, and suffering five losses, hope remains within the Shabana camp.

The upcoming match against Nzoia Sugar FC at Raila Odinga Stadium in HomaBay presents an opportunity for redemption and a chance to climb from the depths of the standings.
