FECAFOOT president Samuel Eto'o is facing a difficult period with the fate of Cameroon football in the dark.

Cameroonian football is facing a crisis as the Elite One league nears its conclusion.

Playoffs in Douala and Yaounde have been marred by scandals and controversial refereeing decisions, raising concerns about fairness and integrity.

Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) president Samuel Eto'o had promised a high-quality season, aiming to create the best league in Africa. However, the reality on the pitch has fallen far short of expectations.

Fans are increasingly disillusioned, with some choosing to boycott matches in protest against what they perceive as predetermined outcomes.

One fan, Ambroise Nkeng quoted by Cameronian outlet Camfoot, lamented, "Going to the stadium now is a waste of time because the winner is already known. You go to watch a match, but you're told in advance which club will win. If you're not careful, you'll waste money on tickets every weekend. I watched the first half of the season. That's enough."

Referee Ndanga Mundi has been at the center of several controversies, but FECAFOOT, the CTFP, and the Central Refereeing Committee have remained silent.

Abdouraman Hamadou believes Cameroon's football has deteriorated significantly.

He criticizes Eto'o, saying, "I consider Samuel Eto'o a politician. He doesn't care about football. If you care about football, you can't leave elite referees unpaid for three years, accumulating 300 million in arrears. That means you're not involved in football."

"He's doing politics. He was put there to do politics. Every time he seems to be in trouble, you see him reiterate his support for the President of the Republic," he added.

Eto'o became the president of FECAFOOT on December 11, 2021 after defeating the incumbent, Seidou Mbombo Njoya.

His tenure has however known no peace as it has been marred by controversy after controversy.

One most famous of such controversies saw him banned from attending Cameroon national team games by FIFA due to misconduct.

The ban was related to an incident at the Under-20 Women's World Cup match between Cameroon and Brazil, where he was found to have engaged in offensive behavior and violated principles of fair play
