Reactions as Brennan Johnson dooms The Foxes to another defeat in the Premier League
Nottingham Forest played hosts to Leicester City at City Ground on Saturday, January 14, 2023.
Both teams were looking to improve on their position on the summit with Leicester hoping ot end their three-match losing streak.
Nottingham Forest have looked much better in recent games having only only recorded one loss in their last five matches.
The hosts were the first to ask questions of their opponents with Ryan Nates’ header in the fifth minute going over the cross bar.
Leicester responded a minute later, with Harvey Barnes forcing a comfortable save from Dean Henderson.
In the 15th minute, Barnes came close once more to giving the visitors the lead, but couldn’t direct his effort on target.
It was largely an even contest in the first period with both sides creating more half-chances than dangerous ones to really trouble either of the goalkeepers.
Both teams went into the break with the scores deadlocked after the first 45 minutes.
Second Half
Leicester began the second period with best chance early after the restart when Youri Tielemans found Harvey Barnes after a blistering run into the box, but the Leicester no.7 saw his effort sail wide of the post.
The visitors were soon made to pay for that missed opportunity, as Brennan Johnson finally broke the deadlock for the hosts in brilliant fashion.
Referee Paul Tierney immediately ruled his effort out for offside but was made to reverse his decision after a VAR check ensured the goal stood sending the City stadium into wild jubilation.
Leicester failed to really trouble the Forest defense largely inn the second half as soon found themselves trailing once more after Morgan Gibbs-White found Brennan Johnson in the 85th minute, with the 'baby-faced' striker finishing ruthlessly to put Forest 2-0 up.

Social Media Reactions
So, so chuffed for Brennan Johnson, who has taken some unfair stick for a kid who is still just 21. Morgan Gibbs-White is absolute game changer. A few outside the club's support eating their words on him now.

Leicester had the ref on their side, they also had the lineman on their side. We had Brennan Johnson on our side #levels #nffc

It is one of the big tragedies that the People’s Club has lost its identity. Brennan Johnson was the type of player to restore some identity. Everton were not interested. He scored 2 today.

A confident Brennan Johnson MGW and Awoniyi will keep us up alone. Add possibly one of the best fullback duos in the league were only going upwards
