Recently crowned world 800m champion Lilian Odira has opened up over the people who she plans to share her Ksh12 million cash reward with after her surprise gold in Tokyo.
The conversation centred on the start of the Betway Premiership, where Sundowns, Sekhukhune United, Durban City, Polokwane City and Kaizer Chiefs have emerged as the early frontrunners.
Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi is currently suspended due to qualification issues and negotiations over the termination of his contract, leaving uncertainty at Naturena.
In that context, Mosimane’s name has once again been linked to the Amakhosi hot seat. Kekana, who knows the coach better than most, was emphatic about what his former mentor could bring.
“I don’t know if he will coach Chiefs but if that happens, he will take them to a place they have never been before. If they want him, they must clean their house because he has a strong personality,” Kekana said as quoted first by Times Live.
Mosimane’s Standards Could Shock Chiefs Players
Kekana, who lifted the CAF Champions League and Super Cup under Mosimane at Sundowns, said the current Chiefs players would be in for a shock if the highly decorated coach arrived at Naturena.
“If that move happens, players must be ready because of his high standards. He will demand discipline, hard work and a winning mentality every single day,” he noted.

South Africa Make Harsh Response After FIFA Dock Bafana Points Over Ineligible Player
SAFA have vowed to appeal FIFA’s ruling after Bafana were docked points, risking World Cup hopes in tight qualifiers.
The former Sundowns skipper, who also enjoyed spells at SuperSport United and won eight league titles during his illustrious career, added that Chiefs could finally reclaim their dominance under Mosimane’s guidance.
“He has proven himself at every level. He knows how to build successful teams, and he will expect Chiefs to match his ambition.”
Away from the Chiefs discussion, Kekana also voiced strong views on the Motsepe Foundation Championship (MFC). He called for the immediate scrapping of the under-23 rule, which forces teams to have five players under the age of 23 on the pitch at all times in the second tier.
“The league does not exist for development purposes but for teams that are fighting tooth and nail to gain promotion to the PSL. The ruling places coaches under unnecessary pressure,” Kekana said.
Amakhosi Urged to Match Coach’s Ambition
He argued that promotion is too high-stakes to burden clubs with enforced youth quotas, stressing that teams should be allowed to select line-ups that maximise competitiveness.

Turning back to the Betway Premiership, Kekana said consistency will be key if any side hopes to dethrone Sundowns, who have remarkably won the league for eight consecutive seasons.
“The other teams must maintain high standards for the entire 2025-26 campaign. That is the only way to stop Sundowns,” he explained.
