Shabana coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo has explained why he is delighted with his team despite failing to win against Nairobi City Stars on Sunday.

Shabana FC head coach Sammy Pamzo Omollo was full of praise for his team despite not collecting maximum points in their FKF Premier League clash against Nairobi City Stars on Sunday.

Tore Bobe played to a goalless draw against Simba wa Nairobi in Machakos, the first time a match involving them has not had a goal this season and also managed to stop the potent attack of City Stars.

It was the third match Pamzo was taking charge of since his appointment as Shabana coach last month, and he believes his team was the better side on the day, and unlucky not to have taken home all three points.

“I am happy with the way we played. If you look at our display, we were starting from the back and building up to our opponents’ goal which we did very well,” said Pamzo.

“If you look at the individual players we have, some have greatly improved, and the confidence I wanted from them I have seen it today.

“We have played well and we were not losing possession easily in the first half. In the second half, we should have won this match because if you see the set pieces from Enock Agwanda’s long throws, they were giving our opponents plenty of problems which we should have scored from.

“I am looking at the last two to five minutes, a cross comes in, Mathew Tegisi alone with the keeper but his header goes out then Wycliffe Muta weaves his way into the box and the keeper saves.

“Things like these show me that my team is creating chances and it is just bad luck that we did not get all three points.”

Shabana are still finding consistency hard to come by even under Pamzo as they have won, lost and drawn in the last three games and their coach will hope that the positives he is seeing will yield wins on a regular basis.

The Glamour Boys are still in the relegation zone, sitting 17th on the 18-team table with 18 points, from four wins, six draws and 10 losses.
