Nigeria's Super Falcons are ready for their FIFWWC opener against North Americans Canada but have suffered a setback ahead of the important clash.

Nigeria Super Falcons are set to kick off their 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, FIFAWWC, campaign with an all-important clash against Canada.

The Super Falcons will head into that game without two of their key players, Pulse Sports Nigeria can report.

Nigeria’s match against Canada is the second game in Group B after Australia defeated the Republic of Ireland earlier today in the group’s opener.

Super Falcons lose two to suspension

The Falcons will welcome the Canadians but without the duo of Rasheedat Ajibade and Halimat Ayinde.

Both players have been suspended for the game following a carryover of cards.

According to FIFA’s disciplinary review, Atletico Madrid’s Ajibade and Ayinde will miss one game each following the red cards received during the ill-fated semifinal clash against Morocco at WAFCON.

Ajibade and Ayinde were both sent off in a shocking second half display as the Atlas Lionesses ended Nigeria’s WAFCON dream.

Following that result, the Super Falcons will now face Canada without the duo as per FIFA.

Nigeria vs Canada

The Nigerian Super Falcons and Canada will go head-to-head for the fifth time in their history when they take to the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium early morning on Friday.

Both teams find themselves in a difficult Group B which includes debutants Ireland and co-hosts Australia, who kicked started their campaign with a hard-fought win over the newbies earlier today.

Nigeria and Canada played out a four-goal thriller the last time both sides met and will be looking to entertain spectators when they take to the pitch for their opener.
