Dunfermline Athletic was on fire in their match against Queen’s Park on Saturday, April 12 at the Hampden Park.

Dunfermline Athletic won 1-0, in a very tactical match as they aim to escape relegation. Now, the club lies eighth in the 10-league club championship with 33 points.

The veteran tactician, who worked with Victor Wanyama at Celtic FC hailed Chris Kane as his favourite player so far after he joined the club last month.

Neil Lennon revealed that Kane is a one-of-a-kind player and he is what Dunfermline Athletic needs to survive being relegated.

“You know, he is brilliant, isn’t he? You know he’s the talismanic, he’s a goal scorer which you know are priceless to coaches,” Neil Lennon said in a post-match interview shared on Dunfermline Athletic’s YouTube Channel.

“I said that to him after the game, you know he is worth his weight in gold dust at the minute. Yes, we needed him. We missed him last week. I’m going to wrap him up in cotton wool for the rest of the season.”

The former Hibernian boss also called on Victor Wanyama and other players to contribute to goal scoring, noting that Chris Kane has been the only one showing up.

He was excited to have Victor Wanyama back in the game, expressing optimism that the former Harambee Stars captain will be a force to reckon with in their final three matches.

Lennon also lauded the squad that played against Queen’s Park, revealing that they were very instrumental in controlling the ball and did not waste any chances.

He explained that in particular, the trio of Jeremiah Chilokoa-Mullen, Kyle Benedictus, and Tommy Fogarty impressed him the most too, aside from Chris Kane.

“I need more to chip in goals, not just Chris, goals from the midfield, great to have Wanyama back on the pitch for five or 10 minutes and he looked good. It all goes well for the next three games,” Neil Lennon said.

“I’m delighted, you know as a manager you want clean sheets as well especially if we’re not free scoring as we haven’t been this year.

“So my back three have been outstanding since I’ve come here, apart from the first game since I came. The last three games have been superb, so reliable, Mullen, Benedictus, and Fogarty have been very consistent.”

Dunfermline Athletic face Partick Thistle FC next, who are fourth in the Scottish Championship table on Saturday, April 19. They will then clash with Airdrieonians and Greenock Morton.

With survival hanging in the balance, Neil Lennon is banking on the brilliance of Chris Kane, the return of Victor Wanyama, and a solid backline to fuel Dunfermline’s final push to safety in their last three battles of the season.
