Gor Mahia Goalkeeper Raises Stakes For Mashemeji Derby as Fixture's Fate Hangs in the Balance
The Mashemeji Derby comes at time when Gor Mahia are embroiled in a three-way battle for the title despite the fixture's fate being cast in doubt.
Their advantage, however, was undone in the 63rd minute when Claudinho converted a spot kick to bring Al Sadd on level terms.
Al Duhail responded brilliantly, reclaiming the lead two minutes later through Benjamin Bourigeaud.
Olunga and Co. seemed on course for victory, but a late Rafa Mujica strike in the 86th minute sent the game into extra time and penalties as neither side could find the winner.
Al Sadd went on to win 4-3 on penalties, with Olunga suffering heartbreak after missing his own strike as the fourth penalty taker for Al Duhail.
His strike would have given the side the advantage, with Pedro Miguel having missed Al Sadd's fourth.
