Their advantage, however, was undone in the 63rd minute when Claudinho converted a spot kick to bring Al Sadd on level terms.

Al Duhail responded brilliantly, reclaiming the lead two minutes later through Benjamin Bourigeaud.

Olunga and Co. seemed on course for victory, but a late Rafa Mujica strike in the 86th minute sent the game into extra time and penalties as neither side could find the winner.

Al Sadd went on to win 4-3 on penalties, with Olunga suffering heartbreak after missing his own strike as the fourth penalty taker for Al Duhail.

His strike would have given the side the advantage, with Pedro Miguel having missed Al Sadd's fourth.

The loss marked the second time this campaign that the Harambee Stars captain has suffered heartbreak courtesy of Al Sadd.

Olunga's Al Duhail also lost out on the league title to their bitter rivals.

Al Sadd registered a 5-0 win over Al Ahli on the final matchday on April 18 to edge Al Duhail, who won 1-0 over Al Khor with Olunga netting the sole goal.

The goal took Olunga's season's tally to 12, but the striker's output fell short of leading Al Duhail to glory.
