Manchester United have acted quickly in a bid to beat competition from Premier League rivals after submitting a second and improved offer for their key attacking target.

Manchester United have reportedly submitted a second and improved bid for one of their key summer targets amid stiff competition from Premier League rivals.

United are in the market for more attacking reinforcements and after the £62.5 million signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, they have cast their eyes on Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.

However, a bid of £45 million plus £10 million in add-ons was rejected early this month, forcing them to re-strategise and now, it is reported that they have come back with an improved bid in an effort to entice Brentford to sell.

According to Fabrizio Romano, United have submitted a second bid and while the transfer news guru did not disclose the amount, British media reports that the new bid is in excess of £60 million.

The BBC reports that United’s bid is over £60 million with the club keen to make further additions before Ruben Amorim’s team returns for pre-season on July 7 and Mbeumo could be their second signing by then.

United are acting with speed after it emerged that Tottenham are also in the race following the arrival of Thomas Frank as their new coach after leaving Brentford.

Mbeumo and Frank have enjoyed a great working relationship since the coach signed him from French club Troyes in 2019 and the Cameroon forward would be open to reuniting with him in North London.

However, Mbeumo reportedly favours a move to United and is waiting to see if the two clubs can reach an agreement with personal terms considered a formality.

United are trying to act with speed by bringing in players who suit Amorim’s style in light of the imminent departures of Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, who are not in the coach’s plans.
