The striker was not available for the Citizens in their last match against Liverpool.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed Erling Haaland will be ready for their Premier League clash against Southampton on Saturday.

The Norwegian missed City’s 4-1 win over Liverpool at the Etihad with a groin injury, but he has returned to training, with the boss confirming his availability.

"Erling trained the last two days, really good," Guardiola said. "He will be ready."

The 22-year-old has scored 42 goals - including six hat-tricks - for the Citizens in 37 games across all competitions. He leads the Golden Boot race with 28 goals, six more than Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur.

Meanwhile, the Spaniard also talked about English teams’ propensity to sack managers. 12 managers have been sacked in the top flight this season; this does not count Graham Potter's decision to leave Brighton for Chelsea.

"The results are important, but it's if the plan works," Guardiola added. "In this country, when I was younger, they always had the tradition of keeping managers.

"Today, with different owners and a lot of pressure, and a lot of investment... on one side, I understand

"Everyone has a lot of pressure. The manager, the board. People believe in changing things because they believe they can be better. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. All the managers know. If it doesn't happen, you always take a risk."

He stated that he has been able to avoid being sacked by winning games.

"I'll tell you a secret: we win games. If we didn't win games, I would be sacked," he concluded.

"I'm not sacked because we've won a lot of games during these years."

With a game in hand, City are eight points behind league leaders Arsenal.
