Malawi U-20 football team rewarded by FAM after defeating Kenya 3-1 in the four-Nation tournament final,.

Malawi U-20 players have been pledged MK1 Million (equivalent to Ksh 76,416.00) each by the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) following their triumphant victory in the four-nation tournament concluded on Sunday afternoon.

This announcement came in the wake of the Junior Flames' stellar performance, outclassing Kenya with a decisive 3-1 win in the showdown at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe.

The goals that sealed the deal for Malawi were scored by Emmanuel Saviel, Chifuniro Kamenya, and Madalitso, showcasing a game filled with tactics, energy, and unrelenting ambition.

On the other side, Ezekiel Omuri managed to score the lone goal for the Rising Stars.

FAM President Fleetwood Haiya articulated his excitement and vision for the future of Malawian football in a statement.

"Incredible and outstanding performance from our U-20 National Football team after beating a highly-rated Kenya U20 side, by 3 goals to 1 at the Silver Stadium this afternoon," Haiya expressed on his Facebook page.

He further added, "This victory gives us a reason to re-imagine our football pathway to greatness. With such foundations, the future of our game looks brighter. The transformational process requires vision, strategy through execution, and the performance from the lads in the tourney inspired huge confidence."

The Kenyan U-20 national team, despite their loss, did not walk away empty-handed in terms of experience and lessons learned.

Assistant coach Anthony Akhulia pointed out the significant experience gained from their matches, including a commendable 3-1 win against Zimbabwe in their opening match.

"The team gained massive experience from the two games they played, having beaten Zimbabwe 3-1 in their opening match last Friday," Akhulia noted.
