Andika was part of the Harambee Stars squad that won the 2017 CECAFA challenge cup back when he was the AFC Leopards custodian.

KCB FC captain Gabriel Andika has revealed he is angling for a return back to the Harambee Stars set up and a move to ply his trade abroad.

Andika started in goal against Ulinzi Stars last weekend after Bryne Omondi suffered an unfortunate setback during Harambee Stars' 2-2 draw with Russia a fortnight ago, suffering a fracture and ligament damage on his left leg which could keep him out for up to three months with the keeper expected to undergo surgery.

This has at least allowed Andika, who kept seven clean sheets last season, to get a chance to make consecutive appearances for a sustained period of time, something he has revealed he is very “grateful for”.

“Football is all about playing time. I cannot say that I am not at my level, but as long as you are getting playing time, then you can set targets.

"You cannot set targets if you are not playing. I am grateful that I am getting time to play, so I can sit down and set my targets and say, ‘Personally as Gabriel Andika, I want to play football’" Andika told Pulse Sports.

“I want to represent my country and even get the chance to play football abroad’. Those are things that will only come if I play regularly like I am doing right now and I believe that, if you are given playing time as a player, it is up to you to hold on to the chance.”

Andika was part of the Harambee Stars squad that won the 2017 CECAFA challenge cup back when he was the AFC Leopards custodian and believes that the chance to play regularly could give him a chance to get back to that level.

“I believe that I will handle the role well and I can now plan what I want to do with my career because I am playing, so generally, football is all about playing time.

"As long as you have playing time, you can achieve whatever you want in life.”

Aside from AFC Leopards, Andika has also plied his trade for Kakamega Homeboyz.
