Tusker FC have received plenty of encouragement from the club owners as they seek to end Gor Mahia’s unbeaten run and close in on the FKF Premier League title race

Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) Managing Director Mark Ocitti has urged Tusker FC players not to lose their focus and ensure they beat Gor Mahia in Saturday’s match to maintain their title charge.

Gor Mahia and Tusker will renew their rivalry in the FKF Premier League in Machakos at a time both sides are enjoying a great run of form.

Unlike in October when Gor were the top dogs and Tusker struggling, both sides face off on Saturday as two of the three most inform teams in the league, with K’Ogalo yet to lose a match this season and Tusker unbeaten in eight, including five straight victories.

That has allowed Tusker to narrow the gap on their rivals to nine and Ocitti believes they can cut it down to six, and set up an intriguing title battle just as witnessed last season.

"We are delighted with the team’s recent performances,” said Ocitti. “The eight-match unbeaten streak reflects the players' resilience and commitment to turn around the season.

“Despite a challenging start to the season, we are now in a better position, currently holding the third spot in the standings and with a lot to play for ahead, we believe the team has a genuine chance of clinching our 13th league title."

The KBL boss has promised the team total support as they go about their business.

"As the team’s sponsors, we are fully committed to supporting them in their quest to remain at the top of Kenyan football. We remain hopeful that this team will emerge victorious this season and, in the future,” he added.

“We extend our best wishes for the upcoming crucial clash against Gor. We have full confidence in our team to deliver positive results. We call on all fans to show their support by turning up in large numbers in Machakos.”

K’Ogalo have been unbreakable, showing great resolve and strength to record late wins, while Tusker have been free-flowing, beating their rivals with ease.

It is perhaps why Tusker coach Robert Matano has full confidence that his squad will deliver a sixth straight victory after starting to enjoy the fruits of their new signings.

"We are in a much better position now after a challenging start to the season. My players, including the new additions like Joseph Mwangi, James Kibande, Fabian Adikinyi, and John Byamukama have been crucial to our turnaround,” said Matano.

“The team's performances have improved, and they have played a significant role in our recent performances. While there is still work to be done, I have full faith in my squad and the positive atmosphere around. As we head into the second half of the season, my hopes are high.”

Gor Mahia won the first leg 1-0 in October and can open up a 12-point gap over Matano’s men if they complete a double but they will have to be at their brilliant best against an inform Tusker side.
