The Kenyan footballer is among players rumoured to be on their way out of the club.

Tanzanian giants Simba SC have reportedly identified Joash Onyango’s replacement.

Onyango has largely been linked with a move out of Wekundu wa Msimbazi, and the club will replace the Kenyan defender with Thierry Manzi.

Manzi is a Rwandan defender currently playing in Georgia for Dilan Goli. The 26-year-old former APR and Rayon Sports defender can play either as a number four or a number five.

Simba are expected to overhaul the squad, which means there will be a massive exodus and a huge number of new players are set to arrive.

Simba’s overhaul exercise will be motivated by a number of factors. This is the second straight season they have failed to beat arch-rivals Yanga SC to the Mainland Premier League title.

They ended the season without a trophy and could not make much progress in the CAF Champions League.

The Kariakoo giants are among the pioneer clubs for the CAF Super League, which is expected to begin in August this year.

All these will demand a squad that is well balanced and has more depth in order to avoid exhaustion in the next season.

Meanwhile, Onyango has been linked with a move back to Gor Mahia, while in Tanzania, he has been linked with Singida Big Stars.

Reports earlier indicated that the former Western Stima centre-back handed in a transfer request, and Manzi’s latest rumours could all point to one thing; imminent exit.

Onyango joined Simba in 2020 and went on to be an instant first teamer. However, he has recently had to deal with severe criticism over his error-prone performances.
