The former world champion was moved by the Everton midfielder's revelation that he was sexually abused as a child, selling drugs at young age and attending rehab

The 2015 World champion Julius Yego has been moved by Everton midfielder Delle Alli’s powerful confession.

Alli, during an interview with Gary Neville, disclosed the tons of childhood traumas he has kept secret for years. He also shared about his subsequent addiction to sleeping tablets as he sought to cope with those experiences.

During the interview, he also disclosed how he was sexually abused at the age of six and he also explained how he attended rehab for six weeks earlier this year.

As reported by Sky Sports, after winning the last of his 37 England caps in 2019, Alli fell out of favour at Tottenham which prompted a transfer to Everton, where he has since struggled to make an impact, spending last season on loan at Besiktas.

Yego was touched by Alli’s confession and took to his Facebook page to applaud the 27-year-old for his bravery in sharing the story. He also discouraged people from prejudging others since you can never genuinely know what someone is going through.

A post on his page read: “The dynamic of life can never be predicted or measured in each and every individual/ mankind, don’t ever think things are the way you see on someone’s face: be it happy, angry, sad, smiling or even behaviour wise, things inside aren’t the actual things you see."

"Big respect to Delle Alli for speaking up about what he has actually gone through in life: football life, growing up.”
