Antony has disclosed that leaving Manchester United for Real Betis was the best decision of his career as he rediscovers form and happiness in Spain.

Antony has opened up about how he is thriving after leaving Manchester United for Real Betis during the transfer window in January.

Following Erik Ten Hag’s exit from Manchester United, the club wanted to cut down on their expenditures, and Antony was among those who would leave the club after failing to justify why he was the second-most expensive player in United’s history.

After joining Erik Ten Hag from Ajax in 2022, Antony only managed 12 goals and five assists in 96 games, and he, alongside Marcus Rashford, were loaned out at the start of the 2025 season under Ruben Amorim’s management.

Breaking his silence, Antony revealed that he is actually enjoying life in his new club, Real Betis. The 25-year-old has already started making waves, scoring seven goals and making four assists in 20 appearances.

He revealed that one of the best decisions he made was leaving Old Trafford, noting that he has been enjoying himself since he left for Spain.

“The best decision I’ve ever made was coming to Betis. I’m happy…and when I’m happy, things go well. The future? It's very early; I don't know what's going to happen, but I'm very happy here,” Antony said as quoted by the Daily Mail.

He added that despite not knowing where he would be playing next, he is just taking a day at a time and enjoying the game.

Antony might not be returning to Old Trafford since Ruben Amorim has yet to decide on the Manchester United players who are currently on loan. Despite being in the dark, Antony remains unfazed by what the future holds.

“I've found myself enjoying football. It's crazy right now, although I know how talented I am, so I prioritised going where I knew I'd be happy, even though I had better offers,” he shared.

Before the season ends, Real Betis have four La Liga fixtures to go, and they are just one point outside of the top-five Champions League qualification spaces in La Liga at the moment.

They also claimed a 2-1 victory over Fiorentina from the first leg of their Europa Conference League semi-final. They will meet Chelsea or Djurgarden in the final later this month. With a healthy and happy Antony in the mix, Real Betis are getting closer to ticking all their boxes.
