The Red Devils no.9 finally ended his 21-game Premier League goal drought amid speculation over his future.
Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund, expressed a sense of much-needed relief after scoring a dramatic 96th-minute equaliser in the Reds' 1-1 draw against Bournemouth on Sunday.
The 22-year-old Denmark international, who has endured a torrid spell in front of goal, took to Instagram shortly after the final whistle to share his emotions, posting simply: "We wanted the win, but I needed that."
The goal was just his fourth Premier League goal of the season in what has been a largely frustrating campaign for both player and club.

Relief at last for United’s struggling striker

Prior to Sunday’s late intervention, Højlund had found the net only twice for Manchester United since mid-December, enduring a dismal 21-game drought across all competitions.
Unlike his promising 2023/24 campaign where he bagged 10 goals in 30 appearances, this season has seen him labour to just nine goals in all competitions.
Højlund has also been heavily criticized by Red Devils fans having failed to justify the £64 million paid for his services from Atalanta in 2023.
Statistically, the picture is equally stark as Højlund has reportedly attempted a mere 25 shots in the Premier League this season, a figure that leaves him languishing behind 122 other players.
Coming into Sunday’s clash, the Dane had scored once in his previous 31 hours and four minutes of league action, a barren run that piled pressure onto United’s supposed leading man.

However, when opportunity finally knocked, Højlund did not hesitate.
Manuel Ugarte’s quick reaction to Luke Shaw’s cross gifted Højlund a split-second chance, and the forward, showing sharp instincts, angled his right foot perfectly to steer the ball into the Bournemouth net.
United avoid further embarrassment amid Transfer speculation
Højlund’s timely strike spared Ruben Amorim’s side a third consecutive Premier League defeat and kept alive slim hopes of European qualification.
The draw also prevented United from recording a grim 16th league defeat, something they have not suffered since 1990.
While Højlund’s late heroics provided a rare bright spot, speculation continues to swirl around United's plans to strengthen their attacking options.
According to multiple reports, Wolves’ Matheus Cunha is on the verge of agreeing personal terms with United, with the club expected to trigger his £62.5 million release clause in the coming days.
