Millions Harambee Stars Will Earn from CAF After Sealing CHAN 2024 Quarter-Final Ticket
The money keeps coming for Harambee Stars at the 2024 African Nations Championships (CHAN 2024) as their qualification to the quarter-final has seen them increase their prize money.
Kenya qualified for the quarter-final without kicking a ball on Thursday night after DR Congo beat Angola 2-0, taking them to six points, same as Morocco, ahead of the two sides’ meeting on Sunday.
With Harambee Stars on seven points, and with a better head-to-head record against both Morocco and DR Congo, it means they worst they can finish in Group A is second place even if they lose to Zambia on Sunday.

Kenya Guaranteed Big-Money Reward From CAF
It is a massive lift for Benni McCarthy’s men, who were considered one of the underdogs in the ‘Group of Death’ and they can now look forward to playing either the leaders or second place in Group B, where Tanzania are currently top on nine points with Mauritania second with seven, heading into the final group stage matches.
Following their qualification to the quarter-final, Kenya are now among the eight teams that will each receive $450,000 (Ksh58 million) from tournament organisers the Confederation of African Football (CAF) which will massively boost the country’s coffers.
If McCarthy masterminds a place in the semi-final, they will be guaranteed at least $600,000 (Ksh77.5 million) as that is what is reserved for the fourth-placed team while $700,000 (Ksh90.4 million) will be awarded to the third-placed side.
What Else is in Store for Harambee Stars?
CAF will reward CHAN 2024 champions $3.5 million (Ksh452 million), while runners-up will receive $1.2 million (Ksh155 million), which is extra motivation for Harambee Stars.
Unlike the reward scheme of President William Ruto, which is going directly to the players and technical bench members, the prize money from CAF will go to Football Kenya Federation (FKF).
President Ruto promised the team Ksh1 million for every win and Ksh500,000 for a draw at the group stage and after handing them Ksh2.5 million each for their wins against DR Congo and Morocco as well as the draw with Angola, he promised an extra Ksh2.5 million each if they beat Zambia on Sunday.
