Nicholas Muyoti celebrated the victory over Bandari FC but warned that Michael Karamor and the forwards must start delivering more.

Nairobi United coach Nicholas Muyoti has sent a stern message to Michael Karamor and the strikers despite their 3-1 win over Bandari FC in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League match played on Tuesday, November 4 at the Dandora Stadium.

The home side was electrifying, with goals coming from Prince Buregeya, Enock Machaka, who converted a penalty, and Shami Kibwana. The three strikes were enough to see off Bandari FC, whose sole goal came from Geoffrey Ojunga.

This crucial win boosts Nairobi United's standing on the KPL table, moving them to sixth place with nine points after five matches. Bandari FC, despite the loss, remains in the mid-table pack, sitting at 12th place with six points from five games.

Nairobi United Sends Clear Message to Michael Karamor and Co

Speaking after the match, Nairobi United coach Nicholas Muyoti was pleased with how the match turned out, but pointed out one area that needs to be addressed.

Nicholas Muyoti revealed that players had learnt from their 3-0 loss to Sofapaka, in a match played on Saturday, November 1.

He admitted that in the first half, the players were not as motivated, but coming back for the second half, they showcased their true potential.

“First of all, I want to thank God and appreciate my players for putting in the work because we worked on a series of things after our match against Sofapaka,” Nicholas Muyoti said.

“We worked on our set pieces, and we have managed to score through that. If you look at the first half, we were not that good, and we were losing the ball a lot.

“In the second half, our players showed up more confident, and they knew what they were supposed to do, and I thank them because that reaction has been impressive.”

Nicholas Muyoti expressed concern over his forwards, explaining that the technical bench had already spoken to them about improving their goal contribution.

Muyoti noted that both assists and goals had been worryingly low, and insisted that the attackers needed to show more effort and take responsibility.

He pointed out that if the strikers were not creating assists, then they had to compensate by scoring, adding that Michael Karamor now owed the team a goal in the next match.

According to Nicholas Muyoti, that was the basic expectation for any forward, score or assist, otherwise, they were not fulfilling their role.

“As a striker, we had already talked to them about scoring goals, and now we are seeing that the assists are not that many, and our goals are not that many. As strikers, they need to put in more effort and step up,” Nicholas Muyoti added.

“If they are not giving assists, then they need to score goals. I think Karamor has a debt, and he needs to score in the next match.

“For strikers, that is their work, and if they can’t score, then they need to contribute to assists but strikers without a goal or assist, then they won’t be doing any job. I’m happy Shami has stepped up today and scored.”

Despite the firm warning, Nicholas Muyoti remains confident that the quality in his attacking unit will eventually show.

Nairobi United will face Kariobangi Sharks next, and that match will reveal whether the forwards respond to the challenge or risk losing their places to those willing to step up when it matters most.
