The England-born star has sealed a season-long loan to strengthen Grimsby Town’s midfield after helping Bradford earn League One promotion.

Kenyan winger Clarke Oduor has joined Grimsby Town on a season-long loan from Bradford City to become the latest addition to David Artell's squad for the 2025/26 Sky Bet League Two campaign.

The 25-year-old joins Blundell Park following a successful spell at Bradford, where he was a member of the squad that won automatic promotion to League One last term.

Oduor's career has been one of persistence, versatility, and unforgettable moments along the English football pyramid.

From his upbringing at Leeds United to Championship adventures with Barnsley and his international debut for Kenya, he begins an exciting new chapter with the Mariners.

“I’m excited to be here and to get going with the team,” Oduor said in an interview with the new club portal.

“The club has big ambitions this season, and I’m looking forward to playing my part in helping us achieve them.

The midfielder, who can also be deployed in defensive roles, will bring the necessary experience to Artell's team. Having played 62 league matches for Bradford, scoring five and assisting the same number, Oduor's combination of attacking flair and defensive work rate has been widely praised.

Journey Through the Leagues

Born in Nairobi, Oduor progressed through the Leeds United academy ranks, signing his professional contract in 2017.

At 19, he made his senior debut in the FA Cup against Queens Park Rangers. Opportunities were limited at Elland Road, so he moved to Barnsley in 2019, where he wrote himself into club folklore.

The highlight of his career came in the final game of the 2019/20 Championship season.

It was against Brentford in the 91st minute that Oduor netted the winner that guaranteed Barnsley's survival in the league.

He would go on to feature in 47 matches in England's second tier over a period of three years, becoming a dependable player in Yorkshire.

Reflecting on that moment, Oduor had this to say: "That goal against Brentford was special for me and for the club. It gave me confidence that I can perform on big occasions, and I want to bring that same mentality here."

International Recognition and Promotion Success

Oduor earned his first senior cap for Kenya's Harambee Stars in October 2020, coming on as a substitute in a friendly against Zambia.

He made a crucial contribution, clearing off the line in the latter stages to assist in a 2-1 victory. It was a proud moment for the utility midfielder, who is still in the frame for national team duties.

More recently, Oduor was a key presence as Bradford City gained promotion from League Two.

Having joined the Bantams in July 2023 after his departure from Barnsley, he was an instant fan favourite, and the club finished third to earn automatic promotion to League One.

"I enjoyed my time at Bradford," Oduor stated.

"Promotion was a fantastic experience, but now I'm looking forward to Grimsby and having a good season."

Grimsby boss David Artell has welcomed the signing, describing Oduor as a "player with great energy and quality" who can provide options across midfield and defence.
