KAA Gent defender had been earmarked as the man to marshal the Stars back-line.

Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat could be without defender Joseph Okumu for their upcoming Four-Nations tournament in Mauritius.

Okumu, who plays for KAA Gent in Belgium, reported to the national team camp on Monday after missing the last four league matches due to injury.

Coach Firat expressed concern over Okumu's availability for the tournament, featuring hosts Mauritius, Djibouti, and Pakistan from June 11-18.

"Joseph (Okumu) is here, he made some sacrifices, but I don't know if he can play," Firat said.

The uncertainty surrounding Okumu's injury raises doubts about his involvement in the tournament, leaving the coach with a potential defensive void to fill.

Okumu, known for his strength and composure in defence, has been an integral part of the Harambee Stars squad.

His absence would be a significant blow to the team's preparations and chances in the Four-Nations tournament.

The defender's injury troubles have been a source of concern in recent weeks, as he has missed several crucial matches for KAA Gent.

While his dedication to joining the national team camp despite his injury demonstrates his commitment to representing his country, the final decision on his participation will be made by the team's medical staff.

If Okumu is unable to recover in time for the tournament, coach Firat will need to explore alternative defensive options.

The absence of such a key player will undoubtedly disrupt the team's defensive organisation and requires adjustments in the tactical setup.

The coach will have to rely on the remaining defenders in the squad to step up and fill the void left by Okumu's potential absence.

The Four-Nations tournament will serve as an important platform for the Harambee Stars to showcase their talent and gain valuable experience.

The team will aim to make a strong impression and build momentum for future competitions, with or without the presence of Okumu in the lineup.
