The committee has been revoked following a ruling by the High Court that found flaws in the creation of the committee.
Ministry of Sports, Culture, and Heritage Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ababu Namwamba has revoked the establishment of the Talanta Hela council and technical committees.
In a gazette notice issued on Wednesday 9 June, Namwamba revoked the gazette notice number 1649 of 2023 that created the council that would oversee the governing of the project.

This comes in the aftermath of Justice Lawrence Mugambi of the High Court of Kenya suspending the council following the filing of a case by Charles Mugane who cited legal flaws behind the formation of the council, a case he filed under the certificate of urgency.
“Pending the hearing and determination of this application interparties, an interim orders be and is hereby issued suspending the special issue of the Kenya Gazette Notice 1649(Vol. CXXV No.32) dated February 10, 2023, publishing the establishment of the Talanta Hela Council and its Technical Committees and consequent appointments for 3 years effective from February 10, 2023,” Mugambi ruled.
Among those who had been appointed to the council are Media personality Carol Radull as the chairperson of the Sports Technical Committee.

Mugane claims that establishment was done without public participation thus was null and void.
