In a recent episode of BBC's iPlayer series featuring Jose Mourinho, the Harambee Stars tactician joined Ricardo Carvalho and Andre Villas-Boas in shedding light on Mourinho's managerial philosophy that led to the rift with the Chelsea winger.

"To impress Jose Mourinho, you have to be a good person, humanitarian skills, good people. You have to have willingness to work hard," stated McCarthy.

"You have to take instructions because he hates putting out his tactics and game plans and players doing the opposite. He had that with a certain Eden Hazard," he added.

Reports during the tactician's second spell suggested a breakdown in Mourinho's and Hazard's relationship in the weeks leading up to Mourinho's dismissal in December 2015 during his second spell at Chelsea.

Mourinho, who has previously denied a fallout between him and the former Chelsea star, shed light on his kind of profile for a player and his approach to handling players.

"You need to be lucky because you need a certain profile of players. You need to be honest with them and tell them what you expect from them," said Mourinho.

The former Chelsea player previously opened up on his role that led to Mourinho's dismissal.

"In 12 years I've only had one bad season, the last six months under Mourinho, and it was partly my own fault," Hazard told Sky Sports in 2018.

Mourinho and Hazard remain key figures in Chelsea's history, and their relationship stands as a point of interest for the Blues.
