Steffani Jenz was furious after a football fan confronted her for breastfeeding

A German player’s wife has expressed her anger after a confrontation with a football fan for breastfeeding during a game between Wolfsburg and Union Berlin.

Steffani Jenz, the wife of Wolfsburg defender Moritz Jenz described the encounter as "humiliating and distressing," causing her sleepless nights.

Jenz, who is a professional singer herself with the stage name Steffani Milan, described the encounter as "humiliating and distressing," causing her sleepless nights.

According to her account, during the first half, she went to the family area of the Stadion An der Alten Foersterei to breastfeed her 11-month-old son.

There, she was approached by an angry fan in his 70s who was holding a beer, making rude gestures, and demanding that she leave.

The situation escalated when he took her baby's toy and later threw it back at her, while security guards reportedly laughed when she reported the incident.

Reflecting on the incident, Jenz stated, "In 2024, a woman still cannot feel safe to breastfeed in a 'familiar environment' like a stadium family area."

She expressed disappointment in the lack of help or support from those around her, criticizing a society that not only fails to condemn but also protects such behavior.

Jenz also questioned Union Berlin's claim to be a “family club” and criticized the lack of intervention during the incident, despite the team having hired a female coach in November.

She hoped that her experience would not be repeated for other women and emphasized the distress she felt during the episode.

Union Berlin issued an apology to Jenz, acknowledging the matter and assuring her that they would address it with their head of security.

Their statement emphasized the importance of women being able to breastfeed without harassment, especially in family areas. Jenz thanked Union Berlin for reaching out and expressing their concern.

The match concluded with Union Berlin winning 1-0, courtesy of Danilho Doekhi's goal just before half-time. Moritz Jenz started the game in defense but was substituted at halftime.
