Bayer Leverkusen's sporting director, Simon Rolfes, has confirmed Liverpool's interest in Florian Wirtz.
Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes has confirmed that Liverpool are among the clubs pursuing Florian Wirtz, but issued a firm reminder: the German champions won’t entertain any offers below €150 million.
“He's still our player, but there's understandably a lot of interest in Florian,” Rolfes said at a Monday press conference. “Liverpool is a team that's very interested in his services, but that's all I can say at the moment.”
Wirtz, 21, has been linked with a move to Anfield for some time, with AFP reporting that the German playmaker has already visited Liverpool’s facilities. Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro has made it clear that any suitor must break the bank to secure the midfielder, with the club valuing him at a staggering €150 million — a fee that would shatter Liverpool’s transfer record.

Letsile Tebogo Gives Worrying Update After Disappointing Rabat Diamond League
Letsile Tebogo has made a heartfelt statement after a disappointing performance at the Rabat Diamond League.
According to Transfermarkt, Wirtz is currently valued at €140 million, second only to Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham among midfielders. Wirtz has reportedly rejected advances from Bayern Munich, and with Manchester City pulling out of the race, Liverpool now appear to be in pole position.
Negotiations between the clubs are said to be underway, with Leverkusen holding firm on their £126 million (€150M) valuation. Liverpool, however, hope to structure a deal that includes a reduced upfront payment with performance-based add-ons to ease the financial burden.
Adding further intrigue to the saga is the imminent arrival of Jeremie Frimpong, Wirtz’s close friend and Leverkusen teammate. The Dutch right-back has already passed a medical at Liverpool, and his signing is expected to be announced once the transfer window opens on Sunday. The Reds are also targeting Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez as part of their defensive reshuffle.

Mashemeji Derby Venue Earmarked For AFCON 2027 Set For More Upgrades
Kenya has received a boost as AFCON 2027 stadium is poised for more upgrade after Mashemeji Derby test.
New head coach Arne Slot underlined the club’s early transfer activity ahead of pre-season, which starts on July 8. “There is so much hard work already done behind the scenes this season to find out which targets we have and try to sign them,” Slot said. “I have all the confidence that if we have addressed the right player, we try to sign that player.”
Liverpool’s transfer budget could be bolstered by outgoings, with Darwin Núñez, Federico Chiesa, Caoimhin Kelleher, Kostas Tsimikas, and Ben Doak all candidates for summer exits. Defender Ibrahima Konaté is also facing an uncertain future, as he enters the final year of his contract.
“Progressing? Not really,” Konaté said when asked about renewal talks. “My agent met the club last week but I don’t know what will happen. I cannot say what my agent said to me but yeah, we will see.”
With Florian Wirtz viewed as a long-term centerpiece for both club and country, Liverpool know they’ll have to move decisively — and dig deep — to get their man.
