German midfielder Felix Nmecha could be fined up to ₦844 million if he violates an Instagram clause in his Borussia Dortmund contract
Borussia Dortmund’s new signing, Felix Nmecha, who joined from Wolfsburg, reportedly has an Instagram clause with his new side that could see him fined up to €1 million if he is found in violation.
Nmecha joins Dortmund from Wolsburg
The German midfielder signed for Dortmund in a €30 million deal from Wolfsburg as a replacement for Real Madrid-bound English midfielder Jude Bellingham and signed a lucrative deal until 2028 with the perennial Bundesliga runner-ups.
His move has reportedly come with some restrictions on his social media use, however, as his new contract is believed to contain a clause that curtails his use of the platforms to share his personal beliefs.
Dortmund insert social media clause in Nmecha’s contract
According to the German publication, Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung, the midfielder has been told in no uncertain terms that he will have to follow Dortmund’s policies on social media rules, and failing to do so will result in a hefty fine.
Nmecha, who recently made his senior debut with the German national team, has in the past been vocal about his Christian faith and made posts on his Instagram account that could be deemed transphobic and homophobic.

In order to avoid a repeat of that scenario, Dortmund have reportedly inserted a clause into Nmecha’s contract that requires him to follow the club’s social media policy and values.
The German midfielder, who was directly involved in nine goals in the 2022/23 season with Wolfsburg, has also reportedly agreed to go along with his new club’s rules.
