There is a huge possibility of the gong being shared by two or more players.

The Football Kenya Federation Women’s Premier League (FKFWPL) Golden Boot race will be decided on the final day of the season on Saturday with two players on 17 goals and one on 15 goals.

Bunyore Starlets Airin Madalina and Wendy Atieno of Thika Queens are neck and neck at the summit of the scoring charts ahead of Puren Alukwe of Zetech Sparks.

Kisumu All Starlets Monica Etot is fourth with 13 goals while Nakuru City Queen’s Elizabeth Muteshi, Wadadia’s Jacqueline Chesang, Gaspo Women’s Lydiah Akoth and Maurine Achieng of Vihiga Queens boast 12 goals apiece.

Well, a final day hat-trick in the FKFWPL would be the big shock of the season, but it’s not unimaginable.

However, there is a likelihood that Puren Alukwe and Monica Etot could sneak in between the two.

Etot, who is struggling with an injury, would not only fire All Starlets to safety with a treble against Trans Nzoia Falcons but also help herself to the top spot.

The youngster has endured a dry spell as she has gone for the last five matches without finding the back of the net.

The same can be said for Madalina, as she will have to score for Bunyore in their last game and help the side retain league status, as they are just two points above the red zone.

Wendy Atieno is arguably the hottest talent in the league and has spent the more significant part of the season topping the charts.

Her challenger Madalaina seems tense as she has admitted pressure in the race to deliver the Golden Boot.

"Topping the scoring chart isn't a joke. It comes with a lot of pressure from both the coach, team-mates as well as the fans. As the striker, when you are off the game, you must shift fast and pave the way to someone else to try her luck," she added.

Meanwhile, Buyore Starlets face Nakuru City Queens on the final day, while Zetech Sparks will make a short trip to Thika for a date with hosts Thika Queens.

Wadadia will travel to Nairobi to face relegated side Kangemi Ladies at Dagoretti High School while champions Vihiga Queens date Gaspo Women at GEMS Cambridge, where the coronation event will occur.
