The five-time Ballon d’or winner netted what could go down as a Puskas Award winner.

Cristiano Ronaldo made history by becoming the highest first-division scorer in history by netting a goal that could be a real contender for the Puskas Award.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has been in scintillating form during his second season in the Saudi Pro League thus far.

Goals have been in abundance, with Ronaldo scoring 16 in 17 appearances prior to Al Nassr's Friday night clash at home to Al Akhdoud.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star has had his fair share of world-class moments at the club.

But he may have taken things to a whole new level when Al Nassr won their 14th Saudi Pro League match of the season.

Sami Al Najei gave them the lead after 13 minutes with a goal that looked as though it would be the only strike of the evening.

However on the approach to full-time, Ronaldo brought the ball down with a controlled touch and fired it into the goal.

Just three minutes later, the 38-year-old went one step further and scored one of the goals of the season.

Al Akhdoud goalkeeper Paulo Vitor attempted to clear the ball but it fell onto the chest of the onrushing Ronaldo.

From around 40 yards out he attempted an audacious lob that looked like it was heading over the bar, but it dipped in.

It was no surprise to see him wheel away with a passionate celebration after scoring one of his best goals this year.

Ronaldo has now scored 527 goals across first-division competitions, doing so in the Saudi Pro League, Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, and Liga Portugal.

His overall tally for Al Nassr has risen to 32 in 37 matches, reaching such a feat in just 11 months in Saudi Arabia.
