CECAFA officials attended a four-day CAF workshop in Cairo to empower women in football.

Several officials from Members Associations (MAS) in the CECAFA Zone have converged on Cairo, Egypt, for a groundbreaking CAF Women’s Football Capacity Building Workshop.

The event, which spanned from Monday to Thursday at the Movenpick Hotel, saw participation from representatives of all but one of the 54 Member Associations.

Organized by the CAF Women’s Department, led by Meskerem Tadesse, the workshop is a pivotal step towards empowering women who are instrumental in the administration and development of women's football on the continent.

"The event aims to take women’s football to the next level. We want to empower women in football to become football directors, Presidents, and more. And we want to make sure that African young girls can dream high," she stated.

Jean Sseninde, a former Ugandan international and the current CECAFA Women Football Development Manager, praised the initiative for bringing together women involved in football from across Africa to share ideas and experiences.

"This has been an amazing opportunity, and I would like to thank CAF for organizing this capacity-building workshop for us as women. I am personally looking forward to the impact it’s going to create," said Sseninde.

The workshop emphasized the importance of collective effort and shared knowledge in advancing women's football.

Representatives from the CECAFA Zone, including Joan Namusisi (Uganda), Bertha Peter Mpulo (Tanzania), Neema Machano (Zanzibar), and others, participated actively, sharing insights and strategies for nurturing talent and increasing female participation in football.

The workshop covered various aspects of football management, coaching, and development, tailored to address the unique challenges and opportunities within women's football in Africa.
