Farouk Khan has been urging Kaizer Chiefs to consider a high-profile coach amid Nasreddine Nabi’s suspension and club uncertainty.

Former Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Farouk Khan has called on his former club to consider signing Pitso Mosimane as their next head coach.

The move comes amid growing uncertainty at Naturena following the suspension of Nasreddine Nabi and interim management by Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze.

Jingles has been without a club since parting ways with Iranian side, leaving his next destination open to speculation.

Over the years, Amakhosi have been linked with the highly regarded former Al Ahly coach, but no official approach has ever materialized.

With Chiefs looking to regain dominance in the PSL, Khan believes Mosimane is the ideal candidate to steer the club back to the top.

“Pitso Mosimane is a high-profile coach. He’s been there, done that and won the Champions League on more than one occasion. He comes with a huge pedigree, but he also comes with big expectations. Can Chiefs afford to buy him the players he needs? I am not talking about salary,” Khan told Soccer Beat.

“Pitso doesn’t want to finish second best; he has a score to settle with Sundowns. Besides being a professional, he wants to prove to South Africa that he is the best coach the country has produced in the last decade or so.”

Chiefs’ Competitive Edge

Khan insists that Chiefs must be bold in their decision if they want to compete with rivals like Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.

“I don’t think that Chiefs won’t trust him, the reality is can they afford to get him what he wants, firstly and Pitso is a coach that is very firm on what he wants to do. You don’t sign players for Pitso Mosimane. I would sign Pitso Mosimane at this stage because I want to compete with the likes of Pirates and Sundowns currently because their house is in order,” he added.

The Chiefs faithful have long debated the type of coach required to return the club to glory. While Nasreddine Nabi’s suspension has thrown the team into temporary chaos, interim managers Ben Youssef and Kaze have stepped in to steady the ship until a permanent appointment is made.

Other Candidates in the Mix

Pedro Valdemar Soares Gonçalves

Alongside Mosimane, Portuguese coach Pedro Soares Gonçalves has also emerged as a potential candidate.

According to Cabine Desportiva, Gonçalves is currently unattached after recently being relieved of his duties as Angola’s national team coach, ending a near eight-year tenure that saw him win two COSAFA Cups with the Palancas Negras.

Despite Gonçalves’ achievements on the international stage, many Chiefs supporters feel the club requires a high-profile, proven winner to match the ambitions of the PSL’s top sides.

Pitso Mosimane, with his decorated resume and strong domestic knowledge, appears to fit that bill perfectly.
