The Nigerians finished as runners-up in Group B after losing in their final group game to group winners ASEC Mimosas.

Rivers United head coach Stanley Eguma has stated that his side are approaching their CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinal game with Tanzania's Young Africans with a different mentality than they did in the group stage.

Expect a different Rivers United, Eguma says

Speaking during Friday's pre-match conference, the Rivers United gaffer said that they were not focusing on the past, but on this fixture alone.

"We are not relying on past performance, no two games are the same," Eguma said.

"I understand that the Yanga SC has rebuilt its team and they are doing well this time around in the domestic league, they also top their group in the confederation cup.

"We are not looking at what we achieved from them the last time, we are trying to push ourselves more than our capacity. It’s not like before, we are coming with a new mentality and approach,” he added.

Rivers United vs Young Africans to hold Sunday

The Pride of Rivers will host the Tanzanian record champions at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Sunday, April 23, 2023, with the tie kicking off at 2 pm.
