The striker could be sidelined as the league hits a crucial stage with K’Ogalo and Tusker in a tight contest.

Gor Mahia striker Benson Omala has shared a worrying injury update after their Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) stalemate against Tusker.

Omala was in action against the Brewers on Sunday at Nyayo Stadium, and after the potential title-deciding duel, he shared an update that indicated he was injured.

"I will always keep believing, I will never lose my stance. We keep the dream alive," Omala’s caption on a bandaged foot photo read.

After the gruelling duel against Tusker, McKinstry explained how Omala suffered a scar and why Charles Momanyi, the Tusker defender, deserved a red card after the challenge on the striker.

"Another incident was Momanyi (Charles) the (shirt number) 27 on Omala (Benson). He has a scar from the eyebrow down to the nip on the shoulder from fingernails scratching his face.

Should the forward get sidelined, it will be a big blow to Gor Mahia, who are chasing their record 20th title.

The former Kisumu Day High School star is a key cog in the Gor Mahia’s title-chasing machine, as he has scored 25 goals this season. However, he has been slowed down in recent games as he has failed to find the back of the net.

In his absence, head coach Johnathan McKinstry can rely on Patrick Kaddu, who scored a hattrick on his league debut against Vihiga Bullets.

The Ugandan has earned limited play time for the Kenyan giants, as Omala remains the preferred choice to lead the goal exploration mission.

The league is at a crucial juncture as Gor Mahia and Tusker engage in a tight race. The Sunday duel did not have much impact on the league as a point remained in the separation gap. The goalless draw means that there was no impact on the goal difference tally either.

In the remaining games, Gor Mahia need to win all their matches and hope that Tusker slide, if their dream of winning the title remains intact.

A big headache lies in their match against Kakamega Homeboyz. Homeboyz know that if they beat Gor Mahia, they will open a gateway for Tusker to win the league.

And if Tusker emerge as the league champions, automatically, Homeboyz qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup even if they lose the FKF Cup, in which they are scheduled to play Tusker themselves.

The game against Hoemboyz will give Gor Mahia an opportunity for revenge. This is because it was the Kakamega-based outfit that eliminated K’Ogalo from the FKF Cup.
