The former Bandari coach was set to quit the club citing unfavorable working conditions according to multiple reports.

Ulinzi Stars head coach Bernard Mwalala has quashed talk of leaving the club after reports emerged that he was set to quit his job at the end of their FKF Cup semi-final clash against Tusker on Saturday.

Stars lost 1-0 courtesy of a last minute header by Eric Otieno to crush their dreams of delivering a piece of silverware and qualification to the CAF Confederations Cup.

Mwalala had reportedly told his players on Friday morning that he was set to depart the club citing unfavorable working conditions. He has however, quashed those rumors claiming he is “fully committed” to Ulinzi Stars.

“I have only seen that thing swirling all over the papers and the internet,” he said, “ I saw it coming from ‘a source’. Make it what you will, but it is nothing but rumors,” he added.

“I have not spoken to Bandari.I am fully committed to Ulinzi Stars until the end of the season. The aim is to finish as high as possible and also get third in the Mozzart Bet Cup.”

“We have to continue where we left off. We cannot make too many changes. We want to see if we will finish as high as possible and see if we will move forwards.”

Mwalala arrived at Ulinzi Stars in September 2022 from Kakamega Homeboyz, a team he led to finish second place last season.

The former Kenyan international ventured into coaching after picking up an injury while playing for Tanzanian side Coastal Union in 2011.

He later moved back to Kenya and was appointed Nzoia Sugar FC coach, where in his first season with the Sugar Millers, he managed a fifth finish in the National Super League (NSL).

He guided Bandari FC to the CAF Confederation Cup play-off stage in 2019, where they were eliminated by Guinean giants Horoya AC.
