Gor Mahia recently travelled to Tanzania for a friendly match against giants Simba SC, where they lost 0-2 at a packed Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
Despite the loss, there was a lot to learn from Tanzania’s football, as outlined by Austin Odhiambo, and also a chance for the Harambee Stars midfielder to reunite with his longtime friend Mohammed Bajaber.

He revealed that the Tanzanian fans give football the hype it needs, making the game interesting, and that is what Kenya is lacking, especially in the local league.
“Fans filling the stadiums for such matches is such a game-changer, and it inspires us to know that in Kenya, we can also make this happen,” Austin Odhiambo revealed.

Austin Odhiambo also left the stadium with a special gift from Mohammed Bajaber, and revealed that they had played together for Harambee Stars and were also friends from a long time ago.
The Gor Mahia attacking midfielder added that he has never been linked with a move to Simba SC, noting that if it was bound to happen, it would in due time.
“I’ve been with Mohammed Bajaber in the national team and we’ve known each other for a long time, so he’s gifted me as his friend and by bad luck, I had already gifted mine to a fan, but next time, I will carry it for him,” he added.
