Arsenal: 3 Signings That Can Transform Mikel Arteta's Team into Title Contenders Next Season

Arsenal have ended another trophyless season after failure to challenge for the Premier League and Champions League semi-final exit but which players can transform them in 2025-26?

Arsenal secured Champions League football for next season following their 1-0 win over Newcastle on Sunday which means they will head into the final match of the season more relaxed.

The Gunners will, however, feel disappointed over their season as they failed to challenge for the Premier League title and reached the Champions League semi-final.

Part of the reason for their failure is the lack of squad depth as injuries and lack of signings in key areas saw them fall short, something they must strive to avoid next season.

Already, coach Mikel Arteta has said he expects a busy summer transfer window while at least five players will be allowed to leave, creating room for the new arrivals but who should Arsenal bring in?

Alexander Isak

Lack of a clinical striker is largely the reason Arsenal have fallen short and high on their wish list is a new centre forward.

A number of names have been floated around with reports claiming Arteta favours RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko while Sporting Director Andrea Berta wants Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyokeres but while those two are good, the Gunners should go for Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.

Sesko and Gyokeres have come into the picture because hey are viewed as cheaper alternatives to Isak and easy to get but the Newcastle man ticks most boxes than the other two.

Isak has been in the Premier League since 2022, scoring 25 and 27 goals in the last two seasons, and understands the league well, unlike the other two, and even though his price is high, Arsenal already proved that they can stretch the limits if they really want a player when they paid £100 million for Declan Rice.

Martin Zubimendi

Midfield is another area that Arsenal badly need to strengthen and Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi has emerged as a key target for the Gunners with a deal reportedly agreed.

Zubimendi has been on Arsenal’s radar since last summer with Liverpool also expressing an interest, and it seems they are finally set to land their man with Jorginho on his way to Brazilian club Flamengo to open up space for the Spaniard.

The 26-year-old will add spine and competition to Arsenal’s midfield, helping others raise their game while also giving Arteta options.

Nico Williams

Another problematic area for Arsenal is left wing where Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli have been competing for but not with much success this season and Nico Williams of Athletic Bilbao has emerged as a key target for the Gunners.

Trossard, with one year left on his contract, is reported to be attracting interest from Saudi Arabia while Martinelli has been blowing hot and cold, hence the need for enough cover.

With 11 goals and seven assists this season, Williams is seen as a player who can improve even further as he is still just 22 and will help the likes of Martinelli raise their game as there will be genuine competition.
