Barcelona are reportedly close to reaching an agreement with Brighton for the loan of Ansu Fati.

Brighton are reportedly close to completing a deal for Barcelona youngster Ansu Fati on a loan move for the rest of the season.

What has happened?

The 20-year-old striker broke out in the 2019/20 season and was billed for greatness. He became Barcelona's youngest debutant and the youngest goalscorer in Champions League history.

When Lionel Messi left the club in 2021, Fati was given the number 10 jersey along with a sizable amount of responsibility to be the new spark in Barcelona's attack.

However, he suffered a meniscal laceration injury, which ruled him out of action for nearly a year.

He suffered several relapses during the 2021/2022 season, and since then, he has been slowly regaining his physical fitness and confidence; however, he has not particularly hit the heights that earned him the perception of being a possible Messi replacement.

Ansu Fati teamed up with American-born Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer David Adedeji Adeleke OON, who is professionally known as Davido.

After the goal, Fati ran to the Barcelona bench to celebrate with French star Ousmane Dembele.

Brighton enters the picture

Due to Barcelona's financial situation and Fati’s high wages, they were said to have placed him on the transfer list, but the player insists on continuing at the club.

However, a recent report by the reliable Fabrizio Romano surfaced today, revealing that the Seagulls are pushing for a loan move for the Spain international.

Although his initial stance was to continue at the club by any means, Fati is reportedly open to a move to the AmEx, and Brighton's Italian manager Roberto De Zerbi is said to have been an influential factor.

It is said to be a straight loan for the rest of the season, without a buy option or obligation.
