The experienced defender bids farewell to Mwatate United, embracing a fresh journey after making impactful contributions on and off-field.

National Super League side Mwatate United FC is undergoing a significant shakeup as they confirm the departure of their esteemed captain, Brian Solomon Mandela.

The experienced defender has joined the ranks of Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) giants AFC Leopards.

The transfer marks a new chapter in Mandela's career, one that the former captain himself looks forward to with great anticipation.

"Back to back captain Mandela heads to the den. It is now official he is part of AFC Leopards SC. All the best in your endeavors, to greater heights Brian Mandela," the club declared in a heartfelt statement.

The move is poised to not only bolster the Ingwe’s lineup but also to provide Mandela with fresh challenges and opportunities to showcase his prowess on the pitch.

Mandela's legacy at Mwatate United is etched in his remarkable stats – 14 appearances, four league goals, and an equal number of assists.

Beyond the numbers, he has been an inspiration to his teammates, guiding them both as a leader on the field and, at one point, as a player-coach.

When the club found itself in need after parting ways with coach Mark Otieno Musa in May, Mandela stepped up to the plate, shouldering dual responsibilities during the crucial clash against Mully Children Home FC.

The decision to join AFC Leopards was not made lightly, with Mandela's transfer temporarily frozen alongside that of Nicholas Omondi, the former Darajani Gogo star.

Mwatate United now faces a period of redefinition, with a new captain yet to be named to fill the shoes of the departing Mandela.

The club's management acknowledges the contributions of the departing leader, recognizing that his journey from Mwatate to the Leopards signifies a natural progression in his career.
