Boniface Munyendo and Christopher Koloti scored for AFC Leopards as Ingwe beat KCB to record their maiden league win of the season.

AFC Leopards finally tasted victory in the FKF Premier League following a 2-1 win over KCB at Ulinzi Complex on Saturday.

Ingwe had drawn their opening three games of the season which left coach Fred Ambani under massive pressure from fans but he silenced his doubters somewhat on Saturday.

Leopards had a dream start when they went ahead after just two minutes, Boniface Munyendo slotting home from close range after connecting well with Samuel Ssenyonjo’s ball.

Chances were few and far between after the goal as Ingwe went to the break leading 1-0 but Robert Matano’s men would draw level after the interval.

The bankers scored the equaliser in the 55th minute to peg Leopards back but this time round, Ingwe were determined not to draw a fourth game on the bounce.

Koloti Secures All Three Points for Ingwe

Leopards’ winning goal arrived 18 minutes from time through Christopher Koloti who connected well with Ronald Sichenje’s delivery to send fans into ecstasy.

Ambani’s men then took their foot off the pedal and protected their lead until the final whistle which brought a sigh of relief to the players and supporters.

Leopards, who had drawn 1-1 with Sofapaka, 2-2 with Posta Rangers before a goalless stalemate with Bandari, have now put their first three points on the board, which lifted them to seventh on the long with six points, moving ahead of KCB on goal difference.

Ingwe are now four points behind leaders Posta Rangers with the win set to boost their morale ahead of their next match against Shabana FC on Wednesday.

Ambani had come under increasing pressure from supporters, who were calling for his sacking after the opening three draws, and he will now hope to put together a run of wins to get his detractors off his back.
