A number of young exciting players have emerged from AFC Leopard’s famed youth team since the FIFA imposed ban on registering new players took effect, starving Ingwe of their favorite West African players.

Eric Mbithi, the latest cub to stride into AFC Leopards senior side and make a mark, is gushing with confidence, looking forward to more first team appearances.

After completing ninety minutes in Ingwe’s last encounter against Posta Rangers, Kakse, as Mbithi is fondly referred to among peers, hopes to complete his transition into the senior ranks and turn that fullback role into his own.

"It was a great game that God had prepared for me. I felt good clocking my first 90 minutes for the club and by the grace of God I’ll achieve more" a jovial Mbithi proclaimed

Mbithi’s first appearance came as a substitute against KCB last year and the left footed defender bid his time before another opening opened up to him. Against Rangers he justified his inclusion leaving fans and coaches raving about his technical skills.

Scouted at Ingotse High School Mbithi has previously featured for Sunrise fc, Macmillan fc and Mlango Kubwa United before joining the AFC Leopards Youth for a year.

Ingwe have fared well in light of the prevailing situation and look to strengthen their scouting for youthful players rather than relying on expensive foreign imports.

AFC Leopards are fighting on two fronts for continental football next season. The club have fallen behind rivals Gor Mahia in the FKF Premier League title race but have coasted into the round of sixteen of the FKF Cup whose winners clinch a direct ticket to the lucrative CAF Confederation Cup.
