Former Mtibwa Sugar and Yanga goalkeeper has been linked with a move to the club.

Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side Kakamega Homeboyz are set to make an official announcement regarding their new signing in the coming days.

A source at the club confirmed to Pulse Sports on Friday that Kenyan international, Farouk Shikalo will be joining Homeboyz in arguably one of the most unexpected mid-season transfers so far.

However, the source also confirmed that there are still a few details set to be finalized.

"Farouk Shikhalo will join Kakamega Homeboyz after a move to Police FC failed to materialize. There are still a few details to finalize, but he will likely sign a two-and-half-year deal.

Homeboyz will officially make an announcement on the new signing in the coming few days," was all that the source disclosed.

Despite possessing healthy stocks, as far as quantity is concerned, in the goalkeeping department, Homeboyz have struggled to settle on a first-choice option.

Former Kenya U-20 international Stephen Otieno, started a few games of the current season but was relegated to the bench soon after some costly blunders.

Shikalo is expected to provide competition to goalkeeper Ibrahim Wanzala, and his arrival is likely to trigger the departure of Otieno from Homeboyz.

Abana Abeingo are reported to have acquired the services of Uganda goalkeeper James Ssetuba. Still, unconfirmed reports indicate that they have made a U-turn on the former Ihefu FC, URA FC, Bright Stars, Wakiso Giants, and Sony Sugar goalminder.

Shikhalo started his career at Muhoroni Youth FC and then switched to the now-defunct Ushuru FC, formerly Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).

He stayed at Ushuru for one season before joining FC Talanta in 2013, and after one season, he was signed by Tusker.

The custodian later rejoined Muhoroni and then moved to Posta Rangers in 2017 before being snapped up by Bandari FC.

Tanzania Premier League champions, Yanga SC, came calling and signed him in 2019. His stay was for one season, and after being dropped, he joined KMC and later Mtibwa Sugar.

The custodian was part of the Kenya squad that participated in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, where Harambee Stars failed to go past the group stage.
