The 10-round World Boxing Foundation (WBF) super lightweight women's world title fight will be held in Mombasa.

Kenyan professional boxer Sarah' Angel of War' Achieng is bracing World Boxing Foundation (WBF) super lightweight women's title shot against Argentinian Edith Soledad Matthysse on May 12.

Achieng, the current Commonwealth super lightweight title champion, will be making her maiden WBF title shot count in her bid to become a world champion.

The 35-year-old boxer was previously set to vie for the World Boxing Association (WBA) title in Belgium in February against Belgian Oshin Deriew, but the fight was called off.

"I'm so excited, it's an opportunity I've been longing for many years, and now it has come. I'm ready for the big fight," Achieng told reporters.

Achieng's opponent has held two world titles at the featherweight weight division, both of which were lineal championship wins.

She comes from a family of boxers, with her elder brother Lucas Matthysse holding the WBA welterweight title in 2018 and the WBC interim super lightweight title from 2012 to 2013.

However, Achieng has warned her that she is more than ready for the fight that will be held in Mombasa.

"I don't know much about my opponent, but I won't underestimate her. If anything, she should be prepared for total war," Achieng added.

Achieng's record stands at 15 wins and two losses, with her most recent win being against Zimbabwean challenger Chiedza Homakoma.
