Olympics 400m hurdles champion Rai Benjamin is impressed by the healthy rivalry with his competitors while hitting out at 100m sprinters who he feels ‘fight’ a lot.
Despite an intense rivalry that has produced the 18 fastest times in 400m hurdles history, Rai Benjamin insists there are no hard feelings between himself, Karsten Warholm, and Alison Dos Santos.
These three athletes dominate the event. Benjamin (USA) is the reigning Olympic champion, Warholm (Norway) holds the world record and is a three-time world champion, and Dos Santos (Brazil) won the 2022 world title.
Warholm's world record of 45.94 seconds was set at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Benjamin ran 46.17 in that same race, the second-fastest time ever. Dos Santos clocked 46.29 at the 2022 World Championships in Oregon.
