Ferdinand Omanyala has urged fans to be patient with him in his quest to break Usain Bolt’s 100m world record.

Ferdinand Omanyala has asked fans to be patient with him amid pressure to break Usain Bolt’s 100m world record.

Usain Bolt’s record stands at 9.58 seconds and was set at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin. Only two men, Yohan Blake and Tyson Gay, have come close to that record that seems untouchable.

However, Ferdinand Omanyala believes he has all it takes to get closer to that record and even hopefully break it.

Ferdinand Omanyala revealed that there are a few things he has changed in training that might have affected his speed, but he is slowly getting back into the rhythm.

The Commonwealth Games champion changed coaches at the end of the 2023 season, parting ways with Duncan Ayiemba and starting to work with Geoffrey Kimani.

He pointed out that at the moment, things are looking good, and he can only put in the work and pray for the record, noting that God is the only one who knows when it will come.

“That time will come, we switched things up a little bit and started doing a different model, but things are coming together. Things are looking up, and we hope it shall work out one day, we just leave everything to God,” Ferdinand Omanyala said.

Usain Bolt: My 100m World Record Will Be the Hardest to Break

Speaking in a previous interview, the fastest man alive, Usain Bolt, admitted that the 100m world record might be the last to be broken.

Usain Bolt revealed that the 100m is shorter and more technical, and a slight mistake might heavily cost an athlete, as compared to the 200m, which gives more room for an athlete to make corrections before finishing the race.

"I really don't know, I think the 100m's going to be harder (to break) because it's quicker, and if you make a mistake during the race, you're not going to get it. It's a lot more technical, so I think maybe the 100m's going to go last," Usain Bolt said.

While Ferdinand Omanyala acknowledges the weight of expectations to break Usain Bolt’s record, he remains focused on his steady progress.

Ferdinand Omanyala is trusting the process and hoping his new training approach will be the answer to breaking Usain Bolt’s world record.
