WATCH: Mondo Duplantis Unveils 'Gold' Ahead of World Athletics Ultimate Championship

Pole vault world record-holder and two-time Olympic champion Mondo Duplantis has unveiled "Gold," an original song he wrote and performed to serve as the official anthem for the upcoming inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship.

World Athletics announced the global launch of the track, which was co-written by Duplantis with Carl Silvergran and Oscar Chase, who also produced the song.

"Gold" is now available on major streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, accompanied by an official music video.

The video was filmed in Budapest, Hungary, the host city for the championship, and features iconic landmarks such as Fisherman's Bastion and Heroes' Square.

It also incorporates personal archival footage of Duplantis's journey from childhood to his career-defining moments, alongside appearances from family, friends, and fellow track and field stars.

"I wrote the song around representing something that’s a lot bigger than yourself," Duplantis explained. "I think that’s what we all do when we’re on the track. We represent our family, our team, our coaches, and I love that concept. Music and sports are the two things that bring people together in the best way, and 'Gold' is an expression of that."

The anthem will be a central element of the World Athletics Ultimate Championship, integrated into both the live event and broadcast experiences. Duplantis is also scheduled to perform the song live in the stadium to conclude the event on Sunday, September 13.

World Athletics President Sebastian Coe praised the collaboration, highlighting the championship's goal of showcasing athletes' talents beyond the track.

"The Ultimate is purposefully designed to showcase the talents and passions of our sport’s biggest stars, on and off the track," Coe stated.

"Mondo is one of our most recognisable and accomplished athletes, and we could not be more excited that he is the one who created the Ultimate Anthem."

Beyond his athletic achievements, Duplantis, who is represented by Sony Music Sweden, has been actively involved in music for years, accumulating over 11 million streams on Spotify.

He has developed his musical craft while splitting his time between Stockholm and his childhood home in Louisiana.

The World Athletics Ultimate Championship, taking place from September 11-13, aims to definitively name the "best of the best" every two years.

The event will see world and Olympic champions, Diamond League winners, and top-ranked athletes compete for a historic $10 million prize fund.
