Teen sprint sensation Gout Gout has set his sights on matching and eventually surpassing Usain Bolt’s legendary records and global dominance.

Australian teen sprint sensation Gout Gout wants to get to Usain Bolt’s level and hopefully even go beyond what the Jamaican legend achieved.

The 17-year-old has already been compared to Usain Bolt, and at his young age, has already made great milestones, including shattering Bolt’s world age best in the under-16 category in the 200m.

The world under-20 200m silver medallist achieved the milestone while competing at the Australian All Schools Championships in Brisbane.

He clocked a stunning 20.04 seconds to cross the finish line, not only breaking Peter Norman’s Oceanian record of 20.06 seconds but also bettering Usain Bolt’s world age-16 best (20.13).

Appearing on Foxtel’s ‘The Back Page’, Gout Gout revealed that he is looking at Usain Bolt’s 100m and 200m world records of 9.58 and 19.19 seconds.

Aside from that, Gout Gout also wants to have world championship and Olympic titles to his name. He added that his main focus will be on the Brisbane 2032 Olympics, but the LA 2028 Games are also something within reach.

“I think the limit is just obviously winning the Olympics and winning world championships, and honestly dominating like Bolt did. I think that limit is reachable for me,” Gout Gout said as quoted by the Mirror US.

“The times I’ve run so far could potentially make it into finals, make the top four, top five, top six.”

Gout Gout revealed that if he makes it to the LA 2028 Olympic Games, he wants to ensure that he shares the podium with the likes of Olympic 100m champion Noah Lyles and Olympic 200m champion Letsile Tebogo, among other elite sprinters.

But before then, he wants to work on some aspects of his body and strengthen his mindset as he aims to compete against the greats.

“Some of it is definitely physical. I’m still a teenager and haven’t grown into my body yet. Still getting my grown man’s strength, as Noah would say, and just working on those little aspects, a couple of things at the start, gaining power and strength. Those little things really take you to the next level,” he said.

With his sights set firmly on Olympic glory and the legacy of Usain Bolt, Gout Gout is blending youthful ambition with a mature mindset. If his current trajectory continues, the sprinting world may soon witness the rise of its next great star.
